According to a study done by General Motors, six in 10 full-size pickup truck owners use their trucks for trailering.

“Trailering is a fundamental capability that customers invest in and depend on when they purchase a truck,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing. “The 2014 Sierra backs up its unmatched capability with a host of ingenious driver aids.”

To meet the needs of those consumers GMC has enhance the Sierra 1500s class leading trailering capacity with a variety of safety and performance features. Tow/Haul mode allows drivers to take fully utilize the Sierra 1500s new EcoTec 3 engines.

The EcoTec3 in the Sierra 1500 is available in a 4.3L V-6 with a trailering capacity of 7,200 pounds, and a V-8 option offers maximum trailering of 11,500, more than any competitor.

GMC also added improved safety and performance by partnering Trailer Sway Control with its standard StabiliTrak. When the truck sense swaying it instinctively brakes and/or reduces engine power to control the trailer.

Another feature, TapShift controls, allows drivers more control over the Sierra’s shifting. TapShift controls are located on the shift lever and improve shift response time by up to 60 percent compared to previous systems.
